Would you like to combine your passion for sport with international project work and shape the future of beach -olleyball together with project partners in Germany and Tanzania? In this project, you will actively contribute to the development of a training and support concept that primarily encourages young women and promotes participation in sport. In the first phase of the project, you will develop training materials and test your ideas in workshops with young athletes. In the second phase of the project, you will lead workshops together with coaches, organise competitions and provide support in the use of digital learning platforms. If you want to use sport as a tool for social change and contribute to shape a long-term training programme, this is the right project for you!
This project is suitable for you if you
- have experience in beach-volleyball or volleyball,
- have knowledge of beach-volleyball skills development and sports nutrition,
- are interested in training theory, creating training materials and conducting workshops,
- are keen to explore topics related to international project work and post-colonial perspectives,
- are available and willing to participate full time in both 3-month project phases
- are available and willing to participate in preparational seminars
- are 21 to 35 years of age
- have sufficient knowledge of english as a foreign language at least level B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)
Sand für Alle (SfA) is a non-profit sports club based in Hamburg. With Südstrand, the city’s largest sand sports facility, it creates spaces for sport and socialising, promotes work with children and youths, and organises international youth exchanges through beach-volleyball.
The Faru Sports Foundation (FSF) is a non-profit organisation in Dar es Salaam that promotes sports programmes in beach-volleyball, handball, netball and voleyball, specifically targeting young people with limited access to sports facilities.
In Hamburg, you will support Sand für Alle in:
- researching basic movements in beach-volleyball, freely accessible video materials for coaches and designing tutorials,
- conducting workshops and tournaments for young players on Südstrand, further developing the training programme and providing support at competitions at various performance levels,
- developing a long-term training and nutrition programme for young and elite athletes,
- developing a multi-year schedule for implementing a beach-volleyball programme in Tanzania.
Please note that individual tasks may change until the project is implemented.
In Dar es Salaam, you will support the Faru Sports Foundation in:
- conducting beach-volleyball workshops for children, youth and adults in cooperation with schools and sports organisations,
- introducing and promoting a video platform and training local coaches,
- organising youth competitions and working with stakeholders to plan long-term competition structures,
- adapting the training and nutrition programme to local conditions,
- conducting workshops in the Pwani, Tanga and Dar es Salaam regions as well as in Zanzibar,
- exchanging ideas with local coaches and associations.
