The second trip to Peristeri took place with a larger group – 15 young people set off. Without CoViD19 – finally. In order to mitigate the fatal consequences of climate change, the group travelled from Hamburg to southern Europe by train and ship. Great adventure, but with unforgettable moments in Munich, Venice and Patras. From 1 to 18 April, the teens enjoyed the commonality with the players of the partner club AS Peristeri Volley.
In addition to a lot of sport in the sand, the meeting addressed the situation of refugees in Athens and on the islands of the Aegean. In a theatrical setting, a detailed description of the situation was developed with those affected and aid organisations.
The visit to Hamburg from 15 to 24 July offered many highlights, especially exercise: playing and training beach volleyball, canoeing on the Alster, climbing in the Sachsenwald. Extracurricular education also took place in the memorial of the Neuengamme concentration camp, the memorial for the murdered Jews of Europe and the Reichstag was conveyed "inconspicuously" and vividly knowledge.
The organization of both encounters was able to succeed despite the unclear budget situation of the funding institution, because both the German-Greek Youth Office, as well as the German Sports Youth acted spontaneously and cooperatively as a central office.
